Arusha → Lake Manyara → Serengeti → Ngorongoro → Arusha, Tanzania

This package gives travelers more time than the shorter camping safaris and adds Lake Manyara to the Northern Circuit. Lake Manyara has a different character: groundwater forest, open areas around the lake, large numbers of birds and a chance of seeing elephants and, occasionally, lions in trees. The safari then moves to Serengeti for several days before finishing with Ngorongoro.

Day-by-Day Itinerary
Depart Arusha after breakfast and drive toward Lake Manyara. Enter the park for an afternoon game drive. The first section takes you through woodland where elephants, baboons, monkeys and giraffes are commonly encountered. Continue toward the lake area where you can look for hippos, flamingos and other water birds. Overnight: Public campsite around Mto wa Mbu or Lake Manyara. Meals: Lunch & dinner.
After breakfast, leave the Manyara area and continue toward Serengeti through the Ngorongoro highlands. The drive is scenic, with views over the Great Rift Valley and the surrounding countryside. Continue toward Serengeti and enter the park for an afternoon game drive. Overnight: Public campsite in Central Serengeti. Meals: Breakfast, lunch & dinner.
Spend the entire day exploring Serengeti. Start early and follow wildlife activity. The morning can be spent looking for predators before moving into other areas of the park. Your guide can adjust the route according to the season. During migration periods, the drive can focus on the areas where the herds are currently moving. Overnight: Central Serengeti campsite. Meals: Breakfast, lunch & dinner.
A second full Serengeti day gives the group more flexibility. Instead of spending the day driving toward the next destination, you can explore further into the park. This increases the amount of time available for wildlife viewing. Depending on sightings, the day may include kopjes, open grasslands, river areas and other parts of Central Serengeti. Overnight: Central Serengeti campsite. Meals: Breakfast, lunch & dinner.
After breakfast, enjoy a morning game drive while leaving Serengeti. Continue toward Ngorongoro and reach the crater area later in the day. Overnight: Ngorongoro public campsite. Meals: Breakfast, lunch & dinner.
After an early breakfast, descend into the crater. Spend the morning on the crater floor. The crater is particularly good for travelers who want a high chance of seeing several different species in a relatively compact area. After lunch, ascend the crater and drive back to Arusha. Safari ends in Arusha.
