5-Day Tanzania Safari: Tarangire, Serengeti & Ngorongoro

Day 1: Arusha to Tarangire National Park

Your safari begins with an early morning pick-up from your Arusha hotel at approximately 7:00 AM. After a briefing from your guide, drive to Tarangire National Park (about 2.5 hours). Known as the "Elephant Playground," Tarangire boasts the largest concentration of elephants in Tanzania and spectacular baobab trees. Enjoy a full day of game viewing, with a picnic lunch at a scenic spot. Look for lions, leopards, zebras, wildebeests, and over 550 bird species. In the late afternoon, proceed to Sangaiwe Tented Lodge for dinner and overnight, where you can relax with stunning views of the park.

Day 2: Tarangire to Serengeti National Park

After breakfast, depart for the Serengeti (approximately 6 hours drive with stops). En route, stop at Olduvai Gorge, one of the most important paleoanthropological sites in the world. Enter Serengeti through Naabi Hill Gate and enjoy game viewing as you make your way to camp. The endless plains dotted with acacia trees and dramatic kopjes (rock formations) provide perfect habitats for predators. Arrive at Serengeti Tortilis Camp or Into The Wild Africa Luxury Camp in time for sunset and dinner, listening to the sounds of the African wilderness.

Day 3: Full Day Serengeti Exploration

Spend a full day exploring the Serengeti with morning and afternoon game drives. Rise early for the best predator sightings when animals are most active. After breakfast at camp, venture deeper into the park to areas less visited by tourists. Your guide will track wildlife movements to maximize your sightings. Enjoy a picnic lunch in the bush before continuing your exploration. Return to camp in the evening for dinner and overnight, sharing stories of the day's sightings under the starry African sky.

Day 4: Serengeti to Ngorongoro Conservation Area

Begin with an early morning game drive at sunrise, then return to camp for breakfast. Depart for Ngorongoro Conservation Area with game viewing en route (approximately 4 hours). Arrive at the crater rim in the afternoon and check into Ngorongoro Tortilis Camp or Angata Camp Ngorongoro, where you'll enjoy breathtaking views of the crater below. Spend the afternoon relaxing at camp or take an optional guided nature walk along the crater rim (additional cost). Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 5: Ngorongoro Crater Tour and Return to Arusha

After an early breakfast, descend into the Ngorongoro Crater floor, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most spectacular wildlife havens on Earth. The crater's 600-meter walls create a natural amphitheater teeming with wildlife, including the Big Five. Enjoy a picnic lunch at the scenic Hippo Pool picnic site while observing these massive creatures. After a full day of game viewing, ascend the crater rim and begin your journey back to Arusha. Arrive in the late afternoon, where you'll be dropped off at your hotel or the airport, marking the end of your unforgettable Tanzanian safari adventure.
