Day-by-Day Itinerary
Your Maasai guide picks you up at your Arusha hotel. The drive toward Tarangire takes about two hours. On the way, you stop at a traditional Maasai boma. You're welcomed with a song and a dance. The elders share stories about their history and traditions. You learn about the role of cattle in Maasai culture and the blessing ceremony for a new born calf. After a picnic lunch, you arrive at your eco-lodge near Tarangire. In the afternoon, you take a nature walk with Maasai warriors who teach you about medicinal plants and animal tracks. Morning game drive in Tarangire National Park. Your Maasai guide offers a unique perspective on wildlife behavior. Drive to Lake Manyara region. Visit a Maasai cultural museum that documents the history and evolution of Maasai culture. Then enter Lake Manyara National Park for a game drive. Best Time for a Cultural Safari

The cultural safari works year-round. The wildlife viewing varies with the seasons, but the cultural experiences are available at any time.

  • June to October: Dry season. Best wildlife viewing. The Maasai villages are accessible, and the cultural activities continue as usual.
  • November to May: Green season. Lush landscapes, fewer tourists. The Maasai are often more active during the rainy season, moving with their herds.
