6-Day Itinerary — Machame Route

Scenic "Whiskey Route" with excellent acclimatization profile and high success rates

Day 0
Pre-Trek

Optional airport transfer to Moshi. Pre-trek briefing, equipment review, and rentals.

Day 1
Hotel to Machame Camp

Drive 45 mins from Moshi to Machame Gate. Trek through rainforest to Machame Camp (~5-6 hrs, 11 km).

Day 2
Machame Camp to Shira Camp

Ascend from rainforest to moorland (~4-5 hrs, 5 km).

Day 3
Shira Camp to Lava Tower to Barranco Camp

Continue east to Lava Tower (~5-6 hrs, 10 km). Descend to Barranco Camp for acclimatization.

Day 4
Barranco Camp to Barafu Camp

Traverse Barranco Wall, through Karanga Valley to Barafu (~6-8 hrs, 9 km).

Day 5
Summit Day

Midnight start for Uhuru Peak (~5-7 hrs hike). Descend to Mweka Camp (~5-6 hrs).

Day 6
Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate to Hotel

Descend to park gate (~3-4 hrs, 10 km). Transfer back to Moshi hotel.

Day 7
Departure

Breakfast, onward transfer or trip continuation.
